Despite disappointing last season following a breakout campaign in 2015,wide receiver says he’s “earned” a contract extension.
"If we get something done, we do, and if not, I have a big year coming ahead for me and I have an obligation to my teammates to play at a high level," said Robinson earlier in the offseason, according to.
Robinson – who has one year remaining on his rookie deal – saw his production drop off significantly from 2015 to 2016. He caught just seven fewer passes, but his receiving yards fell from 1,400 to 883 and his touchdown output dropped from 14 to six.
"The most frustrating part of (last) year was that I was an improved player coming in," Robinson said. "I was a better route-runner, I thought I was creating more separation. Even though the outcome wasn’t there, I knew that. … Now it's coming in as an even more improved player and having that strain. We have to do it every day and every game."
The entire Jacksonville offense regressed in 2016, in large part due to the struggles of quarterback. If the Jaguars are to get back on track, they need Robinson to play like the star he appeared on track to become in 2015.
“We know we have a big task ahead of us as far as fixing this offense,” Robinson said. “I’m looking forward to that.”
