In a back-and-forth UFC 223 conference call featuring Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov on Thursday, the lightweight challenger responded to the interim champion’s.
Nurmagomedov (25-0) expects to finish Ferguson (23-3) with a submission of his own following a precise strike.
“I’m going to give him a very strong left hook – left hook, he goes down and then I choke him,” predicted Nurmagomedov on the call, according to.
Ferguson, who won the interim lightweight title in October, immediately interrupted his Russian competitor and said he has a plan if Nurmagomedov goes for a rear-naked choke.
“I’m going to give him very nice D’arce choke,” Nurmagomedov clarified, referring to the hold Ferguson has used to win three of his last 10 bouts.
Nurmagomedov expects his tilt with Ferguson to be “the hardest fight of my life,” but rejects the notion that he will be the 10th fighter to tap to the 34-year-old.
“All my life, nobody make me tap – nobody,” said Nurmagomedov. “At amateur, training, it doesn’t matter, I never get tired and I never tap.”
