Cody Blick’s stolen golf clubs have been recovered.
The 25-year-old made headlines in December when heat the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament to earn status for 2019 with borrowed clubs after his set was stolen. As it turns out, Blick’s clubs had fallen into the possession of a homeless man.
Blick toldthat an Arizona woman encountered the homeless man and, after seeing Blick’s name stamped on the bag and clubs, Googled him and learned they were stolen. She bought the bag and clubs off the man for $75 and was able to track down the phone number of Blick’s mother.
Blick’s father offered the woman $300 for the clubs, which she agreed to. Blick’s former San Jose State roommate and teammate Taylor Bromley facilitated the transaction and brought the clubs from Arizona to California on Thursday night.
The bag “is toast,” but Blick had already received a new one from Titleist.
“It’s nice to have them back, that’s for sure,” Blick said. “I spent an hour disinfecting everything. They’re OK, they look alright.”
