UFC president Dana White says Conor McGregor is interested in a rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“(Nurmagomedov) has to go before the Nevada commission, and we have to see what’s going to happen with Khabib and this whole mess,” White said, via. “But Conor McGregor has already called me, wanting a rematch.”
The Notorious suffered a fourth-round submission loss at UFC 229. After the match, aerupted between the two camps, as the lightweight champion jumped over the cage and attacked McGregor’s corner.
Despite McGregor’s eagerness to fight Nurmagomedov again, White may be weighing other options for a potential title bout.
“We’ll see what happens with Khabib and what’s next,” White said. “Tony Ferguson looked amazing. Those two have been lined up three different times to fight and it hasn’t happened. We’ll see how things play out.”
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has withheld Nurmagomedov’s $2-million paycheck, pending a full review of Saturday’s post-match events.
McGregor also threw punches at members of Khabib’s camp, but the NSAC quickly deemed that his actions did not warrant freezing his purse.
McGregorthat he’s “looking forward to the rematch” after his loss.
