Clayton Kershaw may not be going to the All-Star Game, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are sending another impressive left-hander in Alex Wood to take his place during Tuesday's event in Miami, according to a league announcement.
Wood joined the National League team as its only replacement, while six players fill in for the American League squad: Chris Archer, Robinson Cano, Roberto Osuna, Chris Devenski, Brandon Kintzler, and Justin Upton.
The replacements are filling in for Kershaw, Yu Darvish, Michael Fulmer, Corey Kluber, Starlin Castro, Dallas Keuchel, and Mike Trout, who are unable to participate in the event for various reasons.
The 26-year-old Wood become the first Dodgers starter to begin a season 10-0 since Don Newcombe in 1955 after winning his latest start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, while the remainder of the replacements have also put up stellar numbers during the first half.
